The teacher who danced 'Omo Ada' with his school pupils has spoken to the BBC about reasons why he dances with his pupils. Percy Sackey, the teacher who became popular after video of him dancing with his student went viral explained the idea behind his act.
According to Percy who is a creative arts teacher at Obo-Kwahu, the decision to dance with the pupils is to improve their confidence. in new video Percy Sackey expressed the joy he finds in dancing with his pupils during an interview with journalists from the BBC.
"I dance with them during class hours. As I implemented the dance, they feel free to tell me whatever is bothering me," he disclosed. "Whenever I am done with the lesson and I ask a question, they are able to tell me because they don;t see me as a caricature or something like that," he added. Percy further explained that the his plan to introduce dance has developed almost all the pupils and brought out their talents.
It seems Percy's dance with the pupils which went viral some few months ago has caught the attention of a lot of people. Percy also revealed that the viral video has made him gain a lot of followers on Instagram and Facebook.
Prior to this revelation to the BBC, Percy and his pupils had gone viral after dancing to Medikal's Omo Ada song. After Medikal posted the video on his Instagram page, many social media users commented with a lot of them heaping praise on Percy. It is however surprising that the video caught the eye of BBC journalists who went to Kwahu to interview Percy.
On Instagram, many users are applauding Medikal and the teacher for bringing smiles on the face of the children.
